Our GoalWith the launch of our resource and community engagement website, along with our blog, we aim to raise awareness for our community partner, Transition Projects. Transition Projects aims to help the homeless situation in Portland, Oregon. We are here to encourage service in terms of feeding the homeless. Options of volunteering include planning opportunities, buying food, cooking or simply serving meals themselves. It is important to help those who are less fortunate than us, and Transition Projects will always need an extra hand in aid to serving our community.

Established in 1969The mission to help and benefit the homeless community began in the very city that it takes place in today. This mission started by a priest who has purchased hotel property to provide housing for homeless men. Going 51 years strong, the mission is still helping and benefiting the homeless community today and is open to all ages, races, and genders.

Homelessness in PortlandSomewhere around 4,015 people will experience homelessness on any given evening. 44% of those people are considered ‘chronically homeless’, meaning they have been experiencing homeless for over a period that extends a year. Only about 50% of the homeless population will sleep with a roof over their head. Out of the homeless population, a staggering 38.1% are people of color, and homelessness is now additionally impacting people with disabilities and elderly people over the age of 70.
